Who are we?
Brightshinynews.com is a new take on a woman’s magazine website. We’re got all the areas covered: celebrity, entertainment, style, health, beauty, lifestyle and travel. We’ll be recommending the best of the best including beauty buys, must-see movies, music to please your ears, girlie gadgets and so much more. Guys are more than welcome, think of us as your guilty pleasure.
Want to work for us?
We’re currently looking to build a community of contributors to help us get off the ground. If you want to create a writing portfolio and need somewhere to showcase your work, then Bright Shiny News could be for you.
We are looking for wannabe writers who would like to cover any of the following areas; celebrity, music, movies, TV, style, beauty, travel, technology, health, fitness and lifestyle.
You can work with us in many ways. Firstly, we are looking for people who would like to just pitch their ideas weekly, be it sticking to one area or covering all genres.
Secondly, we are looking for writers who would like to have a weekly column. For example: http://www.brightshinynews.com/beauty/4787-this-weeks-beauty-must-haves-2210.html .
We are also looking for fashionistas who are happy to get out there on the street and track down the best in street style as part of their weekly column.
If you have any new ideas or think we are missing a trick on the website and you can make it better, we’ll appreciate that input too.
What skills you need
• Experience in writing (even if it’s just on a personal blog or you are currently studying journalism)
• Good grammar, spelling and confidence in your writing ability
• Be able to commit to four 300-400 word features per month (preferably weekly)
• Have great ideas of features you'd like to write
• Basic experience of using a CMS (or willingness to learn)
• Basic photo editing software
In return you will get your own byline, profile page and any references or recommendations.
If this sounds like you then please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you. Please email your CV (don't worry if you don't have any writing experience on there, it's more about finding out about you), and examples or links to your work to our Editor-in-Chief email@example.com.
