Soho secrets: perfect first date venues

If a first date isn’t nerve-wracking enough, you need to think of somewhere suitable to go. Well help is at hand...

There’s nothing worse than ending up in a crowded bar when you can hardly hear yourself speak, let alone hear your date’s answers.

If you happen to live in London, we recommend you try one of these gems in Soho for maximum fun without the stress.

Ditch meeting for coffee that’s so last year. Why not meet for dessert? MADD a.k.a. mango addiction (image above), is the UK’s first dessert and drinks lounge dedicated to the “king of fruits” - the mango.  It's the perfect place for a relaxed date.

You can  build your  own desserts, so if you're lost for conversation, at least this will be a starting point. We were quite taken by  Thai favourite, Siam, combining sweet coconut sticky rice with fresh seasonal mangoes. If you're going early you can take advantage of their gorgeous smoothies but if it's after dark, then why not sample one of their mango inspired cocktails - they are divine!

Another great place on Rupert Street is the tea shop Bubbleology.  Walking into the Bubbleology store, you will feel like you have been transported to a mad scientist’s lab. With fun black and neon décor, exposed brickwork and scientific diagrams explaining the bubble tea creation process, you will be served by  ‘Bubbleologists’ dressed in wacky lab coats - talk about a great conversation starter.

Want to know what Bubble Tea is?  Well it's the newest tea craze to hit the UK.   Served warm or cool, Bubble Tea drinks have a red, white or green tea base which are infused with delicious fruit flavourings, with the unique and hugely addictive addition of Tapioca pearls at the bottom. The Tapioca pearls – or “Boba” as affectionately termed - have an almost “gummy bear” texture, being zero fat (but you don't have to tell your date that!), they have a delicious caramel undertone and become infused with the flavour of the tea itself - mmm we're liking it.

Poncho 8 on Old Compton Street is a great Gourmet Burrito Restaurant. It has a lounge-like atmosphere, paired with the fun vibe of Soho. It's another great relaxed place to hangout with your date rather than a formal restaurant, and if you're date isn't going so well, you can quickly run off as the food is made up at the serving bar in about five minutes flat, so no need to worry about waiting half an hour for your main to arrive.

To make it stand out from the other Mexicans, Poncho 8 stocks less commonly known Mexican beers and premium tequilas.  The range includes pilsner-style Pacifico Clara and full-bodied Bohemia with talk of its 100 natural ingredients and fruity flavours - we're starting to feel thirsty! And as far as tequilas are concerned, the Poncho 8 owners are going all out by stocking the best of Mexico’s prime poison.

Tequilas are offered as shots and the tequila offering or as part of delicious cocktails including frozen Margaritas - if you're brave check out the very popular Chilli Mango Margarita – or “Pelo del Perro”,which translates to “Hair of the Dog”.

We'll do some more digging and come up with the perfect places for your second date..

To develop the shoe, adidas Innovation Technologies used the ARAMIS system, a motion-tracking technology that offers a highly detailed analysis into the movement of the foot. The shoe was built around the female foot, with focus on exact points that require most support and where the foot needs room for natural expansion.
