James Corden wins Best Actor at Tony Awards

James Corden paid tribute to his fiancee Julia Carey as he picked up the Best Actor prize at the Tony Awards in New York last night.

The 33-year-old actor took home the Best Leading Actor in a Play gong for his part in One Man, Two Guvnors and admitted he "can't wait" to marry partner Julia Carey, the mother of his 15-month-old son Max.

In an emotional speech, he told the audience: "My girlfriend Julia gave birth to our son like, five days before we started rehearsals.

"She's my baby mama, and I can't wait to marry her. Seriously, I would not be holding this if it wasn't for her.

"She makes me say 'us' instead of 'I' and 'we' instead of 'me', and I love her. Thank you very much.' "

James also insisted he was "overwhelmed" to even be nominated for the award alongside Broadway stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, James Earl Jones, Frank Langella and John Lithgow.

Hugh Jackman was presented with a special Tony award by his wife Deborra-Lee Furness at the ceremony for his contribution to the Broadway community and charity work

Musical Once was the big winner on the night, taking home eight accolades, including Best Musical, and Steve Kazee won Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance in the production.

Audra McDonald triumphed in the Best Leading Actress in a Musical category for The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess and Clybourne Park won Best Play.

Paul Rudd, Christopher Plummer and Angela Lansbury all presented gongs at the ceremony at the Beacon Theater in New York, which was presented by Neil Patrick Harris.
